The Ridge Casino announces eMalahleni Fashion Week 2011
Local followers of fashion will be thrilled to know that The Ridge Casino and Entertainment Resort is bringing back eMalahleni Fashion Week again this year. Building on the success of the inaugural event in 2010, the casino says this year’s fashion week is going to be bigger, better and fashionable.
eMalahleni Fashion Week 2011 takes place at The Ridge Events Park from Thursday the 26th to Saturday the 28th of May 2011. It has all the makings to be a world-class fashion spectacular with some of the country’s best designers, local dancers, musicians and entertainers on the bill.
“Who needs to go to New York when you can see and experience the very latest fashion trends and high-end entertainment right here in eMalahleni?” says Motsumi ao Mphirime at The Ridge Casino.
“We have invited some of the best local designers, artists and entertainers to showcase their talents at the show. We are focused on making this a truly local collaboration and will only be using local models, designers, DJs and entertainment. That’s because we truly believe that our region is home to some of the finest in the country, and that they could rival their international peers.”
The catwalk at this year’s fashion week will also feature designs from well-known and emerging Mpumalanga-based designers like Fulufelo (risky fashions); Lloyd; Nontsikelelo; Zandile (mazibu jive); George; (Molly, Gerald and Andile Collaboration); Sinapi; Sthembile (illegal fashions); Sphiwe; Maggie E; Violet; Solly, Siyabonga and many more.
Entertaining the crowds will be local bands and artists such as Que, Native soul, Leroy, The Godz entertainment, Unpredictablz, Tshepo y’eazzy, Dj biggy T, Dj smash and Dj mluga. The Ridge Casino and eMalahleni Fashion Week are still in the process of scheduling entertainment for the event and encourages local artists to come forward if they believe they have what it takes to be part of the act at this year’s fashion week.
Tickets to the event are already available at The Ridge Casino’s Club Festival Desk and through Computicket. Normal tickets are R100 per person while a VIP ticket is R150 per person and includes a front seat, a new sophisticated glass of brutal fruit cranberry or a glass of wine to enjoy at the show.
“Tickets sold out pretty quickly for the 2010 show and we anticipate a similar response to this year’s event. We encourage people to secure their spot at the catwalk as soon as possible in order to avoid being disappointed,” says Solly Lukhele eMalahleni Fashion Week’s fashion consultant.
